Garden Clock offers educational gardening information and seasonal planning tools. It does not provide a live weather forecast, a guarantee against frost, or professional advice specific to your property.

Historical frost dates are estimates

The site’s stated climate reference is NOAA NCEI’s 1991–2020 climate normals. Historical dates and probability estimates summarize past observations. Frost can occur outside a suggested planting window, and a warming trend or unusual season can make a historical estimate less representative.

Your garden can differ from the station

Station distance, elevation, slopes, buildings, urban heat, wind exposure, and low areas where cold air collects can change frost conditions. Check the location and supporting information shown with a result. A nearby station does not measure the temperature in your own garden.

Planting decisions

Crop variety, seed-packet instructions, soil temperature, drainage, rainfall, and plant maturity all affect timing. Check local forecasts and guidance from your local cooperative extension service before planting tender crops or taking protective measures. A displayed date is a planning reference, not a promise of a successful harvest.

Coverage and corrections

Missing towns, incomplete records, and software errors can affect results. Do not interpret an empty search result as evidence that your town has no frost risk. If a result appears inconsistent, verify it with the original data provider before using it.
